Adrian Chamorro

 

Part of a musicians’ family, Adrian Chamorro begins his studies of violin at the age of 4 to his native city, Bogotá. Five years later he gives his first recital at the National Television of Colombia. 

In 1973, A. Chamorro gains a scholarship from the Moscow Academy where he graduates as concert performer and professor of violin in the class of Boris Bielenky. He also attends the courses of leading of Gennadi Rozhdestvensky, discipline which he studies later with Jorma Panula in Finland.

Francesco De Angelis

 

Francesco De Angelis is both leader and soloist of the Orchestra del Teatro alla Scala and Filarmonica della Scala. He is internationally acclaimed as one of the major talented musician by critics and public alike. The peculiarity of his performances is an unmistakable romantic sound blended with the Bel canto style and with the rigour of the middle-European instrumental tradition.

Nam Yun Kim

 

Nam Yun Kim's international career as a soloist began after her studies in Seoul and New York under Felix Garlimir and Ivan Galamian at the Juilliard School and following top awards at numerous music competitions in Europe (e.g. Tibor Varga/Switzerland) and the USA (Washington, New York, Los Angeles).

Jacques Mayencourt

 

Jacques Mayencourt was born in Sion (Canton of Valais). He attends the class of Tibor Varga at the Music Academy of Detmold (Germany). From 1982 to 1985, he was the assistant of Tibor Varga and obtains his alto virtuosity in 1985, then a concert licence in 1987, each "summa cum laude".

Veronica
Schreiber-Kadlubkiewicz

 

Violinist Veronica Kadlubkiewicz - graduate with highest honors of the Warsaw Academy of Music in Poland, continued her studies in the USA with Henryk Szeryng, Roman Totenberg  and Paul Zukofsky. Finalist of Alberto Curci Competition in Naples, Italy she has received a special award from the Rockefeller Competition for Excellence in American Music in Washington D.C. 

 An avid performer of unaccompanied violin recitals Ms.Kadlubkiewicz has also played as soloist with orchestras in USA, Poland, Italy and Spain and appeared frequently at such festivals as Marlboro Music, Bach Aria Festival, Monadnock Music and Warsaw Autumn Festival.

Gilbert Varga

 

Gilbert Varga, son of the celebrated Hungarian violinist, Tibor Varga, studied under three very different and distinctive maestros: Franco Ferrara, Sergiu Celibidache and Charles Bruck. Renowned for his commanding and elegant baton technique, Varga has held positions with and guest conducted many of the major orchestras throughout the world. In the earlier part of his conducting career Varga concentrated on work with chamber orchestras, particularly the Tibor Varga Chamber Orchestra, before rapidly developing a reputation as a symphonic conductor.

Accompanists (pianists)

Nigel Clayton

 

 

Having won three International accompanist prizes in New York and Great Britain, Nigel Clayton has established a reputation as one of England’s most popular chamber music pianists, performing alongside leading soloists such as Lorraine McAslan, Michael Collins, Michael Cox, Tasmin Little and Luis Claret, and with the Chilingirian, Bingham, Sorrel and Bridge String Quartets. He has played and broadcast throughout Great Britain and every European country, and has made extensive tours of India and Asia with Anup Biswas, the Middle East with flautist Wissam Boustany and several recital tours of Japan where he recently made his second concerto appearance (playing Gershwin piano concerto) and first recital tour in Tokyo. He has recorded several compact discs, including one with the young violinist Diana Yukawa which reached No.1 in Tokyo’s HMV charts, and most recently one with clarinettist Joan Enric Lluna for Harmonia Mundi of Rossini and his contemporaries.

Nigel has been solo pianist on sixteen worldwide cruises for P&O luxury cruise liners, has taught at summer schools in England, Spain and  Italy and has been official accompanist for the Tibor Varga International Violin Competition in Switzerland for eighteen years. He is a Professor of piano at the Royal College of Music, London, and Head of Keyboard at the North East of Scotland Music School in Aberdeen, Scotland.

 

 

Ulrich koella

 

 

Ulrich Koella is much in demand as  a chamber musician and accompanist – working among others with renowned artists Olaf Bär, François Benda, Eduard Brunner, Thomas Friedli, James Galway, Ulrike Helzel, Wolfgang Holzmair, Sharon Kam, Kari Lövaas, Laszlo Polgar, Eugene Rousseau, Andreas Schmidt, Bo Skovhus, Raphael Wallfisch and Hanna Weinmeister. His concert activities have led him to most European countries, the Middle East, Japan, China, Canada, Argentina and the USA.

He has recorded several CD’s with various chamber music partners for claves, Tudor, Centaur, Ars Musici and CRC (China), most recently the complete music for violin and piano by Othmar Schoeck with Simone Zrgaggen, a CD with works by American composers together with flutist Brooks De Wetter-Smith and three recordings with the Chinese flutist Sanqing Chen.

 Ulrich Koella has performed several complete cycles of the Beethoven violin sonatas and cello-piano works with Swiss violinist Simone Zgraggen and British cellist Raphael Wallfisch.

 He is professor for piano chamber music at the Zürcher Hochschule der Künste (Switzerland) and gives masterclasses in Israel, the USA, China and Switzerland.

 

 

Petya Mihneva

 

 

Petya Mihneva, from Bulgaria, graduated from the Music School "Hristina Morfova" and in 2001 won the Special prize at the International Competition "The Music and the Earth". 

She studied at the National Music Academy in Sofia until 2004, and three years later completed the Konzertdiplom at the Hochschule der Künste Bern, Switzerland in the class of Prof. Rada Petkova. In that time she has given numerous concerts as a soloist and chamber musician around Europe, and won 1st prize and special prize at the International Competition "Classic and Contemporaries" and the special prize at the National Competition for piano duos "Seiler" in Bulgaria. 

She completed with excellence the Chambermusic Diploma at the Music Conservatory Zürich  in the class of Prof. Eckart Heiligers and is in high demand as a pianist, chamber musician and accompanist around Switzerland, Europe and overseas. In February 2009 she became an official accompanist at the Zürcher Hochschule der Künste.             

 



Verbier Festival Chamber Orchestra

  

The Verbier Festival Chamber Orchestra, made of former musicians of the symphony orchestra, devoted to the interpretation of the chamber orchestra’s repertory. 

Created in 2005, this orchestra of the Verbier Festival gave its first concert in New York with the soprano Renée Fleming, before carrying a European tour with the violinist Joshua Bell. In August 2006, it made its beginnings with the BBC Proms with Maxim Bengerov and in 2007 it was published to EMI from a CD of concerti for violin of Mozart, interpreted and directed by Maxim Vengerov. Then it made a tour in North America and Europe, the ensemble played in the Carnegie Hall in New York, in Musikverein in Vienna and at the Concertgebouw in Amsterdam. 

Since 2006, the Chamber Orchestra plays each year during the Verbier Festival, under the direction of Gábor Takács-Nagy, its musical director since 2007. 

For the 43rd Tibor Varga International Violin Competition, the Verbier Festival Chamber Orchestra reinforced by about 20 musicians for the Verbier Festival Orchestra is going to play with the finalists et laureates of the 2010 Competition. This formation with the shape a Symphonic Orchestra will be directed by the prestigious leader Gábor Takács-Nagy.

Since its creation in 2005, 164 various musicians played in the Verbier Festival Chamber Orchestra and 36 countries has been represented.
