Sonatas for violin and piano may be performed from the music, but all other works must be performed from memory, including the Sonata for solo violin of Bartók (1st movement).

The concerto of Mozart chosen for the first round must be known in its totality because the musician might have to play it during the gala concert.

The following works are REQUIRED, with no exception.

First round
1. J.S. Bach :
  • the first two movements of a solo sonata or
  • the first four movements of a solo partita
2. W.A. Mozart (with piano) : The first movement width cadenza of one of the following concerto: KV 216 G-Major, KV 218 D-Major, KV 219 A-Major.

3. N. Paganini : A capriccio of the candidate’s choice, without accompaniment.

Second round

4. J. Brahms: One complete sonata for violin and piano: G-Major, A-Major or D-Minor.

5.
One of the following pieces, personal choice of the candidate: Tzigane by Ravel, Rondo Capriccioso by Saint-Saens, or Polonaise by Wieniawsky (A-Major).

6. Béla Bartók: the first movement (Ciaccona) of the Sonata for solo-violin.

Final (with orchestra)
7. One complete concerto (with orchestra) of the following works:
Brahms, Mendelssohn in E-Minor, Sibelius, Tchaďkovski.
